WMNC 2009 Call for Participation

Members of the international wireless networks research community have for many years split their conference activity among a number of IFIP-sponsored events, including PWC (Personal Wireless Communications) since 1996, MWCN (Mobile and Wireless Communication Networks) since 1998 and WSAN (Wireless Sensors and Actor Networks) since 2007. In 2008, PWC and MWCN steering committees joined forces to launch a Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference series, the first event of which was held in Toulouse (France). As of 2009, WMNC welcomes another pillar, Wireless Sensors and Actor Networks (WSAN), and will be held on September 9th - 11th 2009 at Gdansk University of Technology, Poland, under the name 2nd Joint IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference (WMNC 2009). It will consist of three tracks reflecting topics originally covered by the three constituent conferences.

The vibrant city of Gdansk is the capital of Pomerania, a culturally and economically rich region of northern Poland, situated on the Baltic coast. Proud of its 1000-year glory and the cradle of the potent Solidarity movement, Gdansk appears at its best in mid-September, a season aptly called the golden Polish autumn. Each year over 1.5 million tourists are attracted by the city's majestic old town with its numerous churches, merchant buildings dating back to the Hanseatic League times, the unusual presence of two town halls, and the towering St. Mary's cathedral, world's largest brick construction. For centuries Gdansk has also been famous as a leading center of amber culture and trade. The social program of the conference will provide an opportunity for the participants to enjoy some of the local attractions.
